How did I get into photography?

In 2006, I visited Iceland with my wife and bought a digital SLR camera beforehand. I had been interested in photography for a long time, but had never been active in it before. This holiday in Iceland sparked my interest and from then on I steadily professionalised my hobby.

In 2013, after a detour into sports and animal photography, I became more interested in landscape photography after spending time in the Alps. I am particularly fond of Iceland, mountain regions and coasts. Being able to enjoy the fantastic sunrises and special weather moods in the middle of nature with my camera is always a special contrast to my everyday life. These are moments in which I recharge my batteries and gain energy. The result is often images that stay in my mind forever.

In recent years I have won several national and international awards with my pictures, including a category win at the prestigious "Sony World Photography Awards" in 2016.

What inspires me when I take photos? The constantly changing lighting situation and moods in landscape photography always inspire me. The saying "Photography is painting with light" is a guiding principle for me!
